Midterm-Part 1

I decided to do drawings involving youth and angst, mainly cause angst is something I have experienced since I was young and art is something that helps me cope with what I'm feeling. The drawings depict variations of loneliness, isolation and depression and people expressing emotions opposite of those are often depicted in color.

The first work is The Loneliest Friend as the girl in gray is surrounded by her friends, all of whom are sleeping peacefully except for her. Despite being surrounded by many friends, the girl in gray expresses nothing but sadness and despair.

The second artwork depicts the same girl observing a group of friends, expressing sadness. The reasons why she stares at the other girls vary, whether it's cause she envies them for being happy and having fun together, sad that none of the girls invited her to hang out with them or shy to bother reaching up and asking to join them.
